What is the difference between a functional eyelid surgery and a cosmetic eyelid surgery. Functional eyelid surgeries improve both the health of the eye and eyelid and the appearance of the patient. Functional surgeries are medically necessary and are covered by insurance. Cosmetic surgeries improve the appearance of the patient. Cosmetic surgeries are generally not covered by insurance.Dr. Craig Munger performs both functional and cosmetic eyelid surgeries.
